June in Minnesota

DSC_6895Finally the snow has melted away and we have put our winter coats in storage, now what will we do here in Minnesota?  Right now it is looking like a cooler summer than normal but you just never know when we may get hit with a heat wave! Whatever the temperature it is time to enjoy some outdoor activities! Did you hear the the Twin Cities was chosen as the fittest US city for the third year in a row. This is surprising to many considering out climate but we are a hardy lot and nothing really stops us from getting out and doing things.

June 8th is the 4th Rock the Vine Festival in Stillwater. This event takes place in the heart of the St. Croix River Valley, wine and music lovers will be treated to an afternoon of regional microbrew beer, wine tastings, live music, food trucks and community in the picturesque surroundings of this lush Minnesota vineyard. This is a large area so up to 2500 people can attend.

If you like jazz, the Twin Cities largest Jazz Festival takes place June 27-29 at Mears Park in St. Paul. The Twin Cities Jazz Festival is one of the largest civic events in the upper Midwest, attracting more than 30,000 people to a diverse lineup of local, national and international jazz artists. All the concerts on the Mears Park stages are free.  Click here for a list of performers and more information.

How about some biking and a picnic at Minnehaha Falls?  Minnehaha Falls has been voted the best bike trail in Minnesota and the trail ties into the entire Scenic Byways System.  The park has the Sea Salt restaurant or you can bring your own picnic lunch.

It has been rather cool and rainy so what do you do with your restless children once school is out? How about taking them to Zero Gravity? Zero Gravity is an awesome trampoline park and what kid doesn’t’ like trampolines? Let the kids bounce away and you can take in an aerobics class at the park.

These are just a few upcoming events or things to do to get out and enjoy Minnesota.
