The kids will be out of school soon for their winter break that lasts 1-2 weeks. Sure, they like to go out and play in the snow and cold but they can only do that for so long before they start complaining of boredom. Most parents don’t want the kids plugged into electronics their entire break either, so what do you do. In Minnesota there is always lots of indoor time space to be filled. I came up with a few FREE and fun things you can do right in the comfort of your own home. There should be something for everyone, boy or girl, young or teenager.
- Read a book
- If the child is creative have them write a book
- Play a game of cards
- Teach the kids Black Jack – helps them learn math
- Show the kids how to play solitaire
- Build a house of cards
- How about a game of hide and seek
- Learn the names of all 50 states
- Once you know the states, learn all the capitals
- Clean up and reorganize your bedroom
- Go camping indoors, set up a tent, eat camping foods and sleep in the tent
- Play volleyball using a balloon
- Write thank you notes on paper to be sent with US Mail, not email
- Play a game of hangman
- Paint nails and/or toenails
- Make paper airplanes and see whose can fly the farthest
- How about spending some time playing with the family pet(s)
- Dress up and have a fashion show
- Parents love this one – play the silent game
- Get out the legos and build some fun stuff
- Have a tea party
- Write letters to relatives that are older and would love getting some mail
- Create a stuffed animal zoo
- Put together a puzzle
- Make your own bingo game and play bingo
