This weekend, June 15-17, is the 2012 Stone Arch Bridge Festival in Minneapolis. Running in its 17th year it promises to deliver as great a time as it has in past years! Last year some 70,000 people attended the event. There is something for everyone young or old and leashed, well-behaved dogs are welcome as well.
This year there will be over 250 local artists and musicians as well as an antique car show and the price for admission for all ages is, as usual, free!
There are some 40 musical groups that will be performing on 3 different stages starting in the late morning and on into the evening. Each stage has their own schedule. The stages are the City Pages Performance Stage, the Cities 97 Performance Stage and the Star Tribune Performance Stage.
The over 250 different artist are spread out over the entire festival areas – see the link to the festival for a list of the artists and their booth numbers, or the link at the bottom of the page for a map.
If food is what you are after, there are four different food courts each offering different cuisine from different vendors. The food courts are the Father Hennepin Park Food Court, the Central Ave Bridge Food Court, the Main Street and the Father Hennepin Park. They will be serving everything from salads, to steaks, to sandwiches, to desserts.
Festival organizers suggest biking, walking or taking public transportation to the festival if at all possible but if you need to drive be prepared to put money in the parking meter and to walk a bit.
Hopefully the weather will be pretty nice to get downtown and enjoy this free festival in the scenic Mississippi River setting!
