Looking for some great family fun or perhaps you enjoy a good amusement park yourself? Valleyfair in Shakopee is now open! Valleyfair is the largest amusement park in the upper midwest!
The amusement park was first opened on 26 acres in 1976 with 20 rides. The park has expanded tremendously over the years and now covers some 125 acres with over 50 rides. The oldest ride in the park is the carousel which came from the old Excelsior Amusement Park in Excelsior. All the expansions have cost the park some $96 million! In 1978 to raise more money the park was acquired by Cedar Point in Ohio.
The park has many different areas and activities. Of course, the rides are the main attraction. There are thrill rides and family rides which are a bit slower. For the little ones there are some 20 attractions in the Camp Snoopy Park. On those hot summer days the Soak City water park is always a great place to go to cool off. If rides and water are not your thing Valleyfair offers a variety of live entertainment show on several stages as well as the Pepsi IMAX theater.
The park, of course, offers a wide variety of foods and restaurants and shopping. If you are interested in attending the park more than one time there are a variety of ticket packages available.
