If you like garlic you won’t want to miss the 7th annual garlic festival this coming Saturday, August 11th in Hutchinson. On the other hand, if you dislike garlic you may want to avoid this area! The festival will take place from 10-6 at the McLeod County Fairgrounds regardless of the weather. There will be over 100 varieties of garlic from all over the country at the festival, all freshly harvested!
The festival has it’s own restaurant called “The Great Scape” featuring all kinds of local foods produced by local chefs that donate their time to the festival. They run a full menu all day long and this year you can even have a Minnesota Wine or Craft Beer with your meal. From the Great Scape you can take in the musical entertainment or a cooking demonstration while you enjoy your meal!
They do provide live entertainment from a variety of musicians and there are special kids programs.
If you are a true garlic lover make sure to pick up your copy of the Garlic Festival Cookbook along with some fresh garlic. The cookbook is in a binder format so you can actually customize the book as you want it. Every year there will be new pages available for download or you can purchase them.
If you like garlic and/or cooking this would be the festival for you!
