The Twin Cities are well known for their theater and arts – supposedly the best place between New York and Los Angeles with the exception maybe of Chicago. In the summer we have a lot of outdoor concerts and festivals and this weekend is no exception with 3 different events running in the metro area!
The Uptown Art Fair runs from today August 3 to Sunday August 5th. This fair is huge with about 375,000 people attending! It is the second largest fair in the state behind the Minnesota State Fair. There will be about 350 different artists from all over the world displaying their works of art in the form of sculptures, paintings, ceramics, jewelry, mixed media and other categories. Aside from the works of art there will be magic acts, food, live music and interactive art activities. Stop on down and check it out!
The Powderhorn Art Fair runs Saturday August 4th and Sunday August 5th. This art fair is no small event either with some 180+ regional and national artists in varied disciplines.
The 3rd festival this weekend is the Loring Park Art Festival located next to the Walker Art Center. This event runs Saturday August 4th to Sunday August 5th and consists of 140 artists. Loring Park, with its beautiful ponds and formal gardens, makes an idyllic setting for art and music. There will be live music performances, children’s activities and plenty of food.
